From the FAQ

Card Restrictions, Types and Abilities

You may use another {card type or trait}

•If the phrase specifies a card type (Weapon, Inspiration, Armor or Special), you may use a second card of the specified type, but still must adhere to the limited traits rules.

•If the phrase specifies a trait (like Torso, Mystic, Sword, or Head), you may use second card with that trait regardless of what card type that second card is.

•Each use of 'another' means 'one besides this one', so multiple cards with these phrases do not allow the use of three or more such cards. Similarly, the combination of 'You may use another Inspiration' and another card that says 'You may use up to two Inspirations' (Such as Seti I) does not allow the use of a total of three Inspirations.

Since Bokken says "You may use another {card name}", it supercedes these restrictions. You still are restricted by hand requirements, though. See the Lu Bu example in the QCT entry below.

Bokken

Several players, especially those new to the game, have questions about this card.

•The ability works once each turn, not once each round as some players misread.

•The ability does not specify that it only affects your attack rolls, and may be used on any player's attack rolls, even a roll you are not defending against.

•You are causing the re-roll to occur, for purposes of abilities that trigger when you re-roll a die, but it does not matter which player physically re-rolls the dice.

•If an attack roll is made outside of a player's turn, each Bokken can affect it once. Any other out of turn attack made during the same round may also be affected in the same way by the same Bokken.

Zeus

At the beginning of any round, you may name an ability. That ability has no effect that round. After you name an ability, discard this card.

•If you have two Bokken in play, and either ability is named by Zeus, it will affect both copies of the bokken.

•If the 'Pair' ability is chosen by Zeus or a similar card, you will be required to immediately discard one of your Bokken.

From the QCT

Can Lu Bu use Sahm, Bokken, and Bokken?

You said (emphasis mine):

The same goes for cards that allow extra cards based on their sub types, such as a card that would allow you to have another 'Head' card in play. You could have a second 'head' card, regardless of that card's card type, in play, but it would not be cumulative with a card that allowed you another armor or special, for instance.

Why would the bolded part not apply to the characteristic "Bokken"?

•The rule you quoted deals with card traits, not card names. Bokken does not interact with this rule at all.

In other words, yes, you can use Lu Bu, Sahm, Bokken, and Bokken. Since Lu Bu allows another weapon (and waives the Hand requirements on it), you can have a Bokken, and still have one hand free. Since Bokken allows another card (by name), it ignores the FAQ on traits.

Does your opponent get -2 to his attack roll from Pirate Stronghold if you use Bokken to reroll it?

•You are the one doing the rerolling, so Pirate Stronghold is not triggered by your Bokken. Their own Bokken, however, would trigger Pirate Stronghold, and give the roll that was affected by Bokken -2.

I want to double check this combo I just thought of, so I'm running it by you fine folks. It's already been established in the FAQ that when you use the "precision" ability, it's you, the wielder, who's doing the reroll, regardless of who's physically changing their dice.

Now, let's say you're in a multiplayer free-for-all, and an opponent is attacking another warrior that's not you. You force one die in the attack roll to be rerolled, and the result is a 1. That means you can move, thanks to Jue Ying's second ability, right? Even if it's not your dice, even if you're not participating, just because it's been established that I'm doing the reroll, does that let me trigger "Kuai shu jue duan"?

PS-- would this also work with Udjat Eye?

•Re-rolls are not new rolls - they are a modification to the existing roll. When you get to the step where Sporan, Jue Ying and other things are used (abilities that check the results of the dice or roll), they check rolls that you made - not rolls that you modified.

•In short, no. This doesn't work.

History in Brief

Trivia

  • Bokken is the only card you can have duplicates of in your deck or stable.
  • One of the most sought-after single weapons in the game, its efficiency in multiplayer formats is not to be underestimated. Even in one-on-one matches, Bokken has proven itself time and time again. Some warriors have moved away from this weapon only because of its low damage, which was typical of early-set weapons.
  • Like the rest of the cards in its pack, it could only be found with the rest of the Miyamoto Musashi-Beowulf promotional pack. As a result, these packs increased considerably in value on the secondary market, as more and more players sought to acquire the elusive second Bokken.
